: Different Improvments

DistAdvent
Well, here is another topic concerning yur comic and the effects that occur while creating the comic. In a comic, there always is improvements. There is no way to avoid it, and I believe everyone can see numerous ones as they look through there comic.

So, which one would you consider the most significant one? You can consider this to be the most noticable or possibly the one that seems more like you accomplished something great compared to the others. You can also describe both of these then.

I'll like to think that all aspects have been improved over the course of my comic. but since i launched the comic, i think the one aspect that has improved esspecially is the special effects. i use Photostudio 2000 in all my comics and using its tools when i can (i.e. the ghost in my most recent comic, not to mention the management of all the layers and the backgrounds), and over time i've used its features more and more. This has allowed me to create i whatever i want now without the choking limits of pure MS Paint.

I think that I had two big improvements with Version 2.fantasy. When I started working on this comic, I planned for it to be a side project (little did I know...). With this in mind, I started working in black and white as shown in my first page here (http://www.snakestudios.com/version2fantasy/pages/p0001.html)

After a few weeks, I realized that I liked working on this comic a lot, so I added color as shown here (http://www.snakestudios.com/version2fantasy/pages/p0008.html)

I kept at it for a long time (I'm close to page 60 now) and I finally got the clue that backgrounds can make a huge difference. The one here (http://www.snakestudios.com/version2fantasy/pages/p0056.html) is a good example of what I'd like to do with backgrounds in the future.

Of course, I also feel that my writing style has improved a lot, and I've started working a lot more on the storyline that I'll be following in the time to come. Of course, everything that I have just said is open to different views. I suppose I'm a little biased about my own work.

heehee, I'm the opposite. XD Since I started GV and did stuff in greyscale instead of colour I think I've learned a hell of a lot. It lets me concentrate more on the linework and perspective and stuff. There's a marked difference between the first GV and the latest, and it's only been a few months. :) :D So yeah, that. ^^

Well, for me I believe the most accomplished and the one that seems most prominent is the same. This is the art is this. After viewing some of the first ones I can see many improvements through it. I actually have also noticed increased readers just from this improvement.

The other ones definitely were significant, althought I could see the results from this particular one then.

i'd have to say the over all visual presentation of my comic is the improvement im most proud of.

i also solidified character design once and for all for most of the characters.

Well, mine relatively new, but you can see a huge leap in the art quality abour 5 comics ago, though it's still sub-par.

well it's easiest to see for yourself:

With my comic:
(1) Character design has improved. Some characters, it's hardly noticeable. Other characters, there's a VERY marked difference.
(2) Storytelling. I've started to get into the "swing" of things, as the characters are now that familiar to me. So, I can explore different facets of the characters and their world... breaking out of the mold, as it were.

The first of my comics were done with sharpies and colored pencils. Poorly.

I'd say everything has improved ridiculous amounts.

Just the basic art style of my comic has made huge leaps -- the first time Jordan and Eliott showed up, they were fairly realistic (albeit badly drawn). Since then, I've found how to reduce them to the basic lines they need, and it has -definitely- been an improvement.

I think all the aspects of my comic have improved. Visually the art is probably the most obvious, but I also am doing much better with pacing and putting a lot into one strip. I think the natural development that helps my strip the most is the real sense of place and tone. Being aware of what "makes" my strip really just helps me to improve everything together.
