    Avatar security issue...

I think a screenshot would explain it:

Selecting "Robot" takes you to the right place, and you get the following message:

In case you were curious, your vote sponsor avatar was Robot a character from the comic, Robot & Friends!

... But that ain't a robot. Big Smile

    Re: Avatar security issue...

Fixed.  Sometimes I'm just so happy that after looking at 30 avatars in the wrong size, with no name at all, or Dark blue text on a blue background, that when I see an avatar clearly written and the right size I just click "approve". :(

    Re: Avatar security issue...

    Heh. No worries. ;)

    Here's another...

Choosing "dachet" gets you to the correct place.

In case you were curious, your vote sponsor avatar was Datchet a character from the comic, Unamused-Comics

Right comic, wrong character. Stick out tongue

    Re: Avatar security issue...

Just now I saw an avatar called "Barty", but could only choose between Whimselina, Gwen and Leandra. Gwen seemed to be the right choice. Another time it was "Ishnia", and I got to choose between Lot, Ligh and Barty. I don't remember which one was the right one that time. Got a week old screenshot of it, but I feel too lazy to upload it and link to it.

I used to save screenshots of fun times when the vote page would try to trick me by listing character names that were really similar. Sometimes with only one letter differentiating them. Would be nice if the page could at least keep the starting letters different for all availible choices. Or at least different from the right choice.

    Re: Avatar security issue...

A friend of mine voted for me and then IMed me to scream: "It says... it says... the names on the buttons are... Leandra, Barty, and Vinny. But... the name on the picture... IS GWEN." Screenshot: http://i36.tinypic.com/sgizoy.jpg Barty is the correct choice.

    Re: Avatar security issue...

The funny thing is that a couple days ago I found and fixed the fact that the Barty image was named Gwen... >_>

    Thanks a lot!

    AAAAAHHHHHH!

It says Lot, but Lot does not have a button. Rather, the correct choice is 'Ishnia'. See screenshot. Danged conspiracy here.

Awesome, this month should be good.  I've glanced through October several times but I'm sure that 1 or 2 will have slipped in.  Thanks everyone for helping weed these out!

...Deja vu much? It said Ishna and the answer was Lot...

Yep, I got that one too.

    Re: Avatar security issue...

I got the opposite just now: Avatar was named Lot, and Ishnia was the correct answer.

    Re: Avatar security issue...

    And here we go again.

    Avatar: Kikamj
    Options: Toshi, Dingy, Dingy

The first Dingy was the right choice.

    Re: Avatar security issue...

Ok, so I found that certain people were able to submit multiple avatars, but it didn't help much since it would update all avatars submitted by a user after they've been approved so it would give one of their avatars the wrong name.  Also it seems that some people have a very definite name they wanted for the avatar, especially those who put the name of their comic on the image instead of the character. :(  I added tracking so I could see that some people were actually renaming their avatars after I fixed them. So I took down their avatars.

From now on if someone puts different text for the name of the avatar than the text on the image, I'm not going to fix it, since chances are they'll just "break" it again, I'll just take down the avatar.

    Thanks everyone!

    Re: Avatar security issue...

Awesome Spang, keep them coming, there are over 600 approved avatars all active right now with the new voting gateway, so quite a few of the ones my exwife approved are going to make it through incorrectly.  Eben07 has been deleted.

Feel free to email these things to the support email, support (_@_) topwebcomics (_._ )com if its easier
